FCS Financial will award up to 35 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to eligible Missouri high school seniors to encourage and support higher education for relatives of FCS Financial customers. Since its inception in 2004, FCS Financial has awarded more than 220 scholarships.
How to Apply
- Complete the Personal Information and Scored Questions sections of the application online.
- After completing these sections online, click on Finish and print two copies of your application. Save one copy for your files. If your application does not appear when you click on Finish, your web browser may be blocking it. If so, click on the bar at the top of the web page to download the application as an Adobe PDF file. Then save the PDF file to your computer and print two copies. You must have Adobe Reader to open or save Adobe PDF files. Click here to get Adobe Reader free.
- Applicant and parents/guardians must sign and date the Information and Photograph Use Authorization section. This page cannot be completed online but is part of your printed PDF file.
- Submit the entire application to your high school principal or guidance counselor to complete the Academic Achievement section.
- Your high school principal or guidance counselor must return the completed application to the FCS Financial marketing office by March 1, 2011. Applications submitted by U.S. Mail, overnight delivery, e-mail or facsimilie will be accepted. Applications that are sent by U.S. Mail must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2011, and received no later than March 8, 2011. If mailed applications are postmarked later than March 1 and arrive later than March 8, they will not be accepted for consideration. Applications returned by overnight delivery, e-mail or facsimile must be received by March 1, 2011.
- Applications will be reviewed by the FCS Financial Scholarship Committee and recipients will be notified by U.S. mail on or before April 15, 2011.
- Once enrollment and participation of the student in the study of their choice at their college or university is verified, scholarship funds will be sent directly to the college or university. It is the recipient’s responsibility to forward enrollment verification to FCS Financial by August 1, 2011, or risk forfeit of scholarship. In the event any portion of the funding is not used by the recipient for the sole purpose of higher education, the unused portion shall be returned to FCS Financial.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following qualifications in order to be considered for an FCS Financial Scholarship:
- Applicant must be a Missouri high school senior and must have been a full-time student the previous year.
- Applicant must be a relative (child or grandchild) of an FCS Financial customer in good standing.
- Applicant must designate which office services the account. One qualified recipient will be selected from each branch office. An additional six at-large recipients will be selected from all eligible, qualified applications. (Applicants may submit only one application.)
- Applicant must plan to attend a two-year or four-year college or university. Preference will be given to those attending a Missouri college or university and to those who choose to study an ag-related field.
- Applicant must attain satisfactory academic progress evidenced as follows:
- Rank in the upper 20 percent of your high school graduating class; or
- Attain a 2.5 or higher grade point average based on a minimum of seven semesters; or
- Score 26 or higher on the ACT.
- Applicant must demonstrate participation and leadership in school and community activities.
- Applicant must enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours.
- Relatives (children, stepchildren, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews) of FCS Financial board members and employees are not eligible to receive a scholarship.
- Students who receive a full-ride scholarship will not be eligible for the FCS Financial scholarship, and it will be awarded to another student.
